About us

Our qualified Speech and Language Therapists are registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Health and Care Professions Council.

C&D Speech and Language Therapists attend regular training and Clinical Excellence Networks, have high levels of supervision and meet with professional colleagues regularly to maintain and enhance skills.

Cassandra Pierson

Speech and Language Therapist

Cassie is one of the service leads in C&D.

She has experience working with children of all ages with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties in schools and clinical settings. Particular areas of interest include speech delay and disorders and secondary aged difficulties. She is qualified and experienced in the use of Makaton Signing, British Sign Language (BSL), Signalong, Lidcombe Early Stammering Intervention Programme and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). She has experience of working with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Language Impairment, speech delay/disorder and language delay/disorder.

Cassie works in mid and north Essex. Her specialist area is Autism.

Elizabeth Fox

Speech and Language Therapist

Lizzie is one of the service leads in C&D.

She specialises in working with children and adolescents in educational and clinical settings and is experienced in providing assessment and therapy for children with a range of speech, language and communication needs. Particular areas of expertise include Autistic Spectrum Disorder, language delay and speech sound disorders. Lizzie is qualified and experienced in the use of PROMPT, Makaton Signing, British Sign Language (BSL), Lidcombe Early Stammering Intervention Programme and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). She is an ELKLAN tutor and an Early Language Development Programme (ELDP) trainer.

Lizzie works in Bath, Bristol and surrounding areas (including Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire).

Dawn Jones

Speech and Language Therapist

Dawn has a range of experience working with children and adolescents in a variety of educational and clinical settings. She is experienced in using various therapy techniques including Colour-Shape Coding, Cued Articulation, PECS, Attention Autism, parent-child interaction therapy and narrative therapy. Dawn’s previous experience includes developing preschool services within an NHS Speech and language therapy team and working in a language unit for children with specific speech and language disorders.

Dawn works in mid and south Essex. She specialises in working with older children and adolescents with speech, language and communication difficulties.

Natalie Bollu

Natalie qualified from City University London in 2016 and has worked with children and adolescents with speech, language and communication difficulties in schools and clinics whilst working for C&D and on her placements.  Natalie works in our primary and secondary schools working with a wide range of difficulties including speech/language delay and disorder, Autism and stammering.

Natalie works with schools in mid and south Essex. She specialises in dysfluency.

Emily Dicks

Speech and Language Therapist

Emily qualified from City University London in 2016.  Before her training Emily worked in the NHS as a therapy assistant for children in mainstream and special schools, clinics and the community of Bristol. Within these roles and her clinical placements, Emily worked with a wide range of communication difficulties particularly speech and language delay/disorder, learning difficulties and Autism. She also gained experience in early years supporting families and promoting speech and language development.

Emily works in the South West, including Bath and Bristol.

Anita Frediani

Speech and Language Therapist

Anita qualified from De Montfort University in 2011. After working in a primary school for a year, she moved to Colchester where she worked for the NHS for five years. Anita has experience of working in mainstream nurseries, schools and clinics, and has delivered training courses to parents, education staff and health professionals. She is also the author of a course for parents and children which is delivered in Children’s Centres across north-east Essex. Anita’s particular areas of interest are speech sound disorders and early language development.

Anita works in north Essex and specialises in working with pre-school aged children.

Helen joined us in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience supporting children in schools.  Helen understands complex needs and how to support children using different means of communication where necessary.

Helen works in our Colchester schools. Complex needs is her specialist area.

Gail Evans

Gail is one of our newest team members. She trained as a Speech and Language Therapist after time spent travelling, teaching, working in the media and having three children.  Since qualifying, she has worked primarily with clients with Learning Disabilities.  Gail is qualified and experienced in the use of Makaton Signing and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).  Particular areas of interest include Autistic Spectrum Disorder and dysfluency.

Gail works in Suffolk.

Sara Garib-Penna

Speech and Language Therapist

Sara is newly qualified from the University of Essex. Sara has experience in working with children with language delay, speech sound disorders, learning difficulties and Autism. Prior to qualifying as a speech and language therapist, Sara conducted research into social communication and emotion recognition in children with Autism as part of her PhD and post-doctoral position.

Sara works with schools in Basildon and Chelmsford.
