About us

Our qualified Speech and Language Therapists are registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Health and Care Professions Council.

C&D Speech and Language Therapists attend regular training and Clinical Excellence Networks, have high levels of supervision and meet with professional colleagues regularly to maintain and enhance skills.

Cassandra Pierson

Speech and Language Therapist

Cassie is one of the service leads in C&D, overseeing the Essex team.

She has experience working with children of all ages with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties in schools and clinical settings. Particular areas of interest include speech delay and disorders and secondary aged difficulties. She is qualified and experienced in the use of Makaton signing, British Sign Language (BSL), Signalong, Lidcombe Early Stammering Intervention Programme and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). She has experience of working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), speech delay/disorder and language delay/disorder.

Cassie works in schools and clinic in mid and north Essex.

Elizabeth Fox

Speech and Language Therapist

Lizzie is one of the service leads in C&D and heads up the South West branch of the company.

She specialises in working with children and adolescents in educational and clinical settings with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties. Lizzie is qualified and experienced in the use of PROMPT, Makaton signing, British Sign Language (BSL), Lidcombe Early Stammering Intervention Programme, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Word Aware, Lego Therapy, Shape Coding, Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme and Attention Autism. She is an ELKLAN tutor and an Early Language Development Programme (ELDP) trainer.

Lizzie works in Bath, Bristol and the surrounding areas, including Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire. Her special interest is speech sound difficulties.

Lizzie loves running and tries to include physical activities in her therapy sessions – the Minion Stomp Rocket game is her favourite!

Dawn Jones

Dawn has a range of experience working with children and adolescents in a variety of educational and clinical settings. She is experienced in using various therapy techniques including Lego Therapy, Word Aware, Social Use of Language Programme (SULP), Colour-Shape Coding, Cued Articulation, PECS, Attention Autism, parent-child interaction therapy and narrative therapy. Dawn’s previous experience includes developing preschool services within an NHS Speech and language therapy team and working in a language unit for children with specific speech and language disorders.

Dawn currently works in schools and clinic in mid and south Essex. She specialises in working with older children and adolescents with speech, language and social communication disorders.

Dawn loves Lego, so her favourite part of her job is running Lego Club at school!

Natalie Bollu

Natalie qualified from City University London in 2016 and has worked with children and adolescents with a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties in schools and clinical settings. She is trained and experienced in using various therapy techniques including: Word Aware, Lego Therapy, Attention Autism, Signalong, Cued Articulation, Solution Focused Practice, Swindon Fluency and Colourful Semantics.

Natalie works with schools in mid and south Essex. She specialises in dysfluency.

Outside work, Natalie loves hiking, travelling, all things Disney and star/planet gazing with her telescope!

Emily Dicks

Emily qualified from City University London in 2016. She has worked with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs across school settings and in the community.  Emily is trained in various approaches including Attention Autism, Makaton signing, the Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme and Shape Coding.

Emily works in the South West, including Bath and Bristol. She has a special interest in developmental language difficulties.

Outside of work Emily has taken up yoga and enjoys lots of crafts, especially cross stitch and candle making.

Anita Frediani

Speech and Language Therapist

Anita qualified from De Montfort University in 2011. After working in a primary school for a year, she moved to Colchester where she worked for the NHS for five years. Anita has experience of working in mainstream nurseries, schools, children’s centres and clinics, and has delivered training courses to parents, education staff and health professionals. She is also the author of a course for parents and children which is delivered in children’s centres across north-east Essex. Anita has training and experience in the use of PECS, Attention Autism, Makaton signing, the Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme and Colourful Semantics. She is also trained to deliver Talk Boost KS1 training and is an Elklan tutor.

Anita works in clinic, schools and homes in north Essex and specialises in working with pre-school aged children.

Anita loves Marvel, Star Wars and Disney films!

Helen joined us in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience supporting children in schools.  Helen understands complex needs and how to support children using different means of communication where necessary.

Helen works in our Colchester schools. Complex needs is her specialist area.

Gail Evans

Speech and Language Therapist

Gail trained as a Speech and Language Therapist after time spent travelling, teaching, working in the media and having three children.  Since qualifying, she has worked primarily with clients with Learning Disabilities. Gail is qualified and experienced in the use of Makaton signing, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Shape Coding and Social Stories.

Gail works in our clinic. Her particular areas of interest include Autistic Spectrum Disorder and selective mutism.

Gail loves live music and theatre, when she finds the time in between looking after her children and growing menagerie (fish, cats, a tortoise, and now a puppy!)

Sara Garib-Penna

Speech and Language Therapist

Sara is newly qualified from the University of Essex. Sara has experience in working with children with language delay, speech sound disorders, learning difficulties and Autism. Prior to qualifying as a speech and language therapist, Sara conducted research into social communication and emotion recognition in children with Autism as part of her PhD and post-doctoral position.

Sara works with schools in Basildon and Chelmsford.

Kerry McCrory

Speech and Language Therapist

Kerry is a newly qualified practitioner who graduated from Reading University this year with a BSc in Speech and Language Therapy. Kerry enjoys helping children who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and implementing different forms of Alternative and Augmentative Communication.

Kerry will be working from our clinic over the summer holidays, then in schools in the Basildon area from September.

Natalie Hayward

Administrative Assistant

Natalie works in our clinic to carry out the administration duties, including answering enquiries via the telephone and email systems, booking appointments, completing daily and monthly invoicing, and assisting the team with any other duties as required.

Outside of work, Natalie enjoys spending most of her free time with her daughter, family, friends and dog. Her hobbies and interests include caring for her horse, horse riding, cycling, jet skiing and other water sports.
